Softball • Marla Reiter smashed two home runs on a day when No. 5 Dixie State cranked out five dingers en route to 11-2 and 9-0 wins over Colorado Mesa in St. George.

Michelle Duncan and Aryn Feickert pitched complete games, with Duncan taking the first.

Reiter had the two homers, scored four runs and drove in three more. Dixie State's Nicole Chavez, Brooklyn Beardshear and Josey Hartman also hit home runs.

BYU falls to San Diego

Baseball • Colton Shaver led the Cougars with an RBI, but the Toreros' seven runs blasted an otherwise cold-hitting BYU, 7-1, on Thursday in Provo.

USD dominated with nine strikeouts by David Hill.

3 Utes awarded All-American honors

Swimming and diving • The University of Utah men's swimming and diving team is in 19th place with 12.5 points after Day One at the NCAA Men's Championships. Bence Kiraly, Nick Soedel and Jacob Crayne all earned All-American Honors during the first day of competition.

Kiraly earned the nod in the 500 free, where he took 12th with a time of 4:15.2. In prelims, he touched in 4:13.83, breaking Utah's school record of 4:14.67 which he set at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships.

Soedel touched in 12th in the 50 free with a time of 19.44. Alex Fernandes took 41st in the event with a time of 19.9.

In diving, Jacob Crayne took 14th on the one-meter event with a total score of 355.8.

Washington St. bests BYU in Provo

Tennis • Freshman Brittanie Eraso got a singles win, but BYU lost a heartbreaker to Washington State, 4-3 in Provo on Thursday.

The WSU Cougars got on the board first in doubles with two quick victories, winning at No. 1 and 2 doubles 6-1 and 6-2, respectively.

Sophomore Savannah Ware evened the score as the first player off the court in singles. Ware bested Lize Leenknecht 6-0, 6-2. WSU's Donika Bashota beat Erika Valimaki 6-1, 6-0. BYU senior Morgan Anderson-Littlewood defeated Victoria Matejevic, 6-4, 7-5. WSU surged back into the lead after a win at No. 1 singles. Elizaveta Luzina outplayed Meghan Sheehan-Dizon 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 in the matchup.

Eraso came from behind to defeat Holly Monahan, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2.
