Utah's gymnastics team celebrated its second Pac-12 championship with balloons, trophies and flowers Saturday.

They almost needed brooms too as the Utes had a virtual sweep of the event Saturday as they claimed the title in front of 14,402 fans.

Utah not only won the team title with a 198.15, but also won every event except the balance beam.

Senior Georgia Dabritz became Utah's third all-around champion in four seasons, totaling a 39.775 and won the floor exercise with a 9.95, Corrie Lothrop won the uneven bars and senior Tory Wilson captured the vault title with a 10.0.

The only event the Utes didn't win was balance beam, which went to UCLA's Samantha Peszek.

UCLA finished second with a 197.35, while Stanford was third with a 197.175 and Oregon State was fourth with a 196.9. The earlier session was Arizona (196.225), California (196.15), Washington (196.0) and ASU (192.7).

The night was as perfect as the Utes could have hoped for except for a devastating injury to Wilson during her floor routine. Wilson tore her Achilles' tendon during her first floor pass and couldn't finish the routine. She was carried off the floor, leaving the crowd stunned and her teammates suddenly under pressure to hit their routines.

They did, scoring the emotional win.

"I am happy for the team and happy for the fans, but I am devastated for Tory," Utah coach Greg Marsden said. "This is going to be a tough one."

Utah closed out the meet with Lothrop scoring 9.9, Dabritz 9.95 and Becky Tutka 9.925.

Lothrop, who tore her Achilles two years ago, said the team wanted to close out the win for Wilson.

"There were all sorts of emotions," Lothrop said. "That routine was for her."

If the ending was for Wilson, the rest of the meet was for a Utah team that has worked so hard to be consistent and strong under pressure.

The Utes, who let a championship slip away on the balance beam in 2012 when they hosted the inaugural championships, virtually clinched the title with one of their best performances of the season on the event Saturday.

Utah posted a 49.4, their second-highest score of the season on the event, to take a .55 lead into the final rotation over second-place Stanford.

Dabritz led Utah's balance beam effort with a 9.925.

"It was a great night," Dabritz said. "I have been working hard on beam to make that consistent and it was finally coming together. It's exciting to do that in front of our home crowd."

Utah will learn on Monday where it will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships on April 4. California, Oklahoma, Auburn, West Virginia, Iowa State and Ohio State are the hosts.

Part of their preparations now will be finding a way to replace Wilson, Marsden said.

"It was a great team effort tonight," he said. "I think it was a peak effort. They all really wanted this and worked hard for it and it all came together, except for Tory." —
