Saturday's historic win over then-No. 3 Gonzaga in Spokane didn't help the BYU Cougars much when it came to receiving postseason honors on Tuesday in the West Coast Conference.

The Zags swept the four individual awards, as coach Mark Few won Coach of the Year, senior Kevin Pangos won Player of the Year, senior Gary Bell Jr. won Defensive Player of the Year and junior Kyle Wiltjer won Newcomer of the Year.

BYU placed two players on the first team: senior guard Tyler Haws and junior guard Kyle Collinsworth. Another BYU senior guard, Anson Winder, made honorable mention, but the Cougars were shut out of the five-member second team and the five-member freshman team.

Haws made the All-WCC First Team for the third-straight year after having been named Player of the Year last year. Pangos is the sixth Gonzaga player to win the league's Player of the Year award in the last 10 years.

"Tyler's career will be defined by his consistency," BYU coach Dave Rose said. "What we will always appreciate is Ty's ability to bring his best each night against defenses aimed to stop him. Our program will always be grateful to him for his commitment, dedication and leadership."

The league's 10 head coaches voted on the awards, but cannot vote for themselves or their players, according to a WCC news release.

Collinsworth was selected to the first team for the second-straight year.

"Kyle has had an extraordinary year," Rose said. "He has helped our team in so many ways. Kyle battled through a serious injury at the end of last year and came back stronger than he was before. We are grateful for Kyle's leadership and his ability to help our team achieve success."

Winder is a first-time honoree after finishing 16th in the league in scoring with a 12.4 average.

"Anson has played a variety of roles for our program," Rose said. "We are so happy for this recognition of his hard work and proud of Anson for this accomplishment."
