Corvallis, Ore. • They're undefeated, ranked fourth nationally, have yet to count a fall and just posted the fourth-best score in the school's history.

Utah's 2015 gymnastics team is having a year to remember — as long as it can finish the way it has started.

The Utes, who compete at No. 12 Oregon State on Friday, are entering what they believe is the most difficult stretch of the schedule. A home meet against Michigan and a road trip to Georgia remain after Friday's meet.

"We don't have a gimme meet left," Utah coach Greg Marsden said. "Winning at Oregon State is tough, Michigan is red hot and it's always difficult to compete at Georgia."

Of all the meets, the matchup against the Beavers could be the most dangerous of all.

The Utes are 16-8 at Oregon State but have lost their past two meets in Gill Coliseum, dating to a 2009 win.

"Like a lot of teams, they are dangerous on their own floor," Marsden said. "There can be some tight scoring up there too, so we know we have to have a good meet."

With the Utes coming off a big win against Stanford in which they earned the fourth-highest score in school history, Utah could be set up for a so-called trap meet. However Marsden believes his team will take the Beavers seriously.

Utah not only has been consistent this season, even on the road, the Utes are still driven by the disappointing finish a year ago. The Utes' strong season ended in a painful finish when the Utes didn't even make the Super Six.

With that disappointment in mind, the Utes appreciate the results they've had, but acknowledge in the big picture, they haven't really done anything yet.

"We said at the start of the season we wanted to start training for the postseason right away," senior Georgia Dabritz said. "We only have a few meets left so we are almost there, but we aren't changing our approach at all. We have to go into every meet focused and looking to do our best."

What is setting this team apart from last year's squad is the consistency. The gymnasts are doing a much better job of all hitting rather than being hot in one meet while cold in another like they were last year, Corrie Lothrop said.

"Every routine is helping the next one get better," Lothrop said. "It's different than it was last year."

Interestingly, as good as the Utes' program has been, only the 1993 team made it through the regular season without a loss. That the Utes are three meets away from accomplishing the feat again isn't lost on the team — they just aren't dwelling on it.

"If it happens, it happens," Marsden said. "There is something special about going undefeated, but we aren't thinking in those terms. Our season isn't determined by that, we have to worry about other things." —
