The Utah softball team defeated No. 10 Tennessee 4-3 on Saturday in Cathedral City, Calif., at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, marking the Utes' first neutral-site win over a Top 25 team since 2008.

The Utes jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning and then took a 4-0 lead with another two runs in the second inning, and freshman pitcher Katie Donovan (4-1) did the rest. Donovan went the full seven innings, holding the Volunteers to three runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Utah center fielder Kate Dickman went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and an RBI.

Utah won its sixth consecutive game and moved to 10-4 overall on the season, while Tennessee dropped to 11-2.

BYU 5, Indiana 3; BYU 15, Oregon St. 5 • Gordy Bravo had two doubles and six RBIs in the Cougars' two victories combined, and Ashley Thompson had three hits, including a double and a home run, and five RBIs in the Win over Oregon State.

Baseball

No. 9 Oklahoma St. 10, Utah 2 • In Mesa, Ariz., Andre Jackson went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in both of the Utes' runs in their loss to the Cowboys at the Pac-12/Big 12 Challenge.

Nebraska 9, BYU 1 • In Peoria, Ariz., Colton Shaver's second-inning home run was one of few bright spots for the Cougars (1-7) in their loss to the Cornhuskers (4-3). BYU used five pitchers, starting with Salt Lake Community College transfer Brady Corless, who left the game in the third inning when Nebraska took a 3-1 lead.

Women's tennis

Utah St. 6, Montana State 1 • In Bozeman, Mont., McKenzie Davis won the No. 1 singles match to lead the Aggies to the victory in their night straight road match. Davis topped Laura Middel, 6-4, 7-5, in singles, and also teamed with Maggie O'Meara to win a doubles match, 6-2, over Montana State's Liana Bates and Molly Crum.

Swimming and diving

USC 158, Utah 139 • Utah's Jack Burton won the 100 breaststroke (56.13 seconds) and the 200 breast (2 minutes, 01.36 seconds) but the Utes came up short in their final dual meet of the season. Utah won eight of 21 events during the two-day meet.
