Los Angeles • BYU point guard Kyle Collinsworth's reward from his teammates for becoming the NCAA single-season record-holder for triple-doubles on Saturday afternoon was an ice-bucket shower in the locker room and a towel with which to dry himself.

"Kinda cold," the 6-foot-6 junior said with a laugh.

It was fitting, though, because Collinsworth was cold-blooded on the court in the 87-68 win over Loyola Marymount, shutting up the Lions with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for his fifth triple-double of the season. Four of those — against Hawaii, San Francisco, Pacific and now LMU — have come away from the Marriott Center.

"He is amazing, because there is a part of this where at times people get accused of padding their stats at home, and that's not the case here," BYU coach Dave Rose said.

Collinsworth passed Drexel's Michael Anderson, Cal's Jason Kidd, UCSB's Brian Shaw and Stephane Lasme of UMass for the single-season triple-double record, and now has his sights set on the career mark of six, held by Anderson and LSU's Shaquille O'Neal.

The Cougars have five regular-season games left and two or more in the postseason.

Collinsworth said he had "no idea" he had recorded the rare statistical feat until he went to the bench with 1 minute, 18 seconds remaining.

"Sometimes people say 'one more,' " he said. "For real — I had no idea."

Actually, Collinsworth got it when he found Sky Halford for a 3-pointer with 6:54 remaining, a shot that gave BYU a 66-53 lead. He thanked Halford later for nailing the shot.

"With these [triple-doubles], they are tough because it depends on whether guys are making shots," Collinsworth said. "I can control rebounding and scoring, but even rebounding sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way. Credit to my teammates. We have such great shooters. I have never played with such great shooters, and it is an honor to play with all my teammates."

Collinsworth said he didn't realize that three of his triple-doubles have been in true road games, and only one at home. The other was on a neutral court at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, against Hawaii.

"Home, away [it doesn't matter]," he said. "I mean, it would be nice to do that in front of the home crowd at the [Marriott Center], but to me, every game is a big game and you gotta bring it whether it is home or away."
