Utah has had its share of success with former junior college running backs: Jamal Anderson, Marty Johnson, Quinton Ganther, John White and Devontae Booker, to name a few.

It appears that Joseph Williams, of Brooklyn's ASA College, will attempt to join that illustrious company, after Williams committed to the U. on his official visit Saturday.

The 5-foot-11 Williams rushed for 1,093 yards in just seven games, scoring seven touchdowns and averaging 6.7 yards per carry for ASA. He also caught 16 passes for 237 yards and three scores. He is not rated by Rivals.

Williams wended his way up and down the East Coast before choosing Utah. Originally from Allentown, Pa., he went from Emmaus High to Virginia's Fork Union Military Academy, and then to UCONN.

In Storrs, Williams was fighting for the backup job as a sophomore when he was arrested for theft of a credit card, according to the Hartford Courant, and subsequently dismissed from the team.

This past season, Williams led ASA to the Northeast Football Conference championship game.

He will have two years to play two at Utah.
