San Francisco • Since BYU joined the West Coast Conference four years ago, the Cougars could seemingly always count on a close, nail-biting affair against San Francisco at War Memorial Gymnasium.

Not anymore.

Using a spectacular shooting display in the first half, the Cougars routed the Dons 99-68 on Saturday night, their fourth-straight win as a WCC member on the Hilltop, but by far their easiest. Previously, BYU had won here by scores of 83-76, 80-76 and 85-84.

Tyler Haws scored 22 points, Chase Fischer added 20 and Anson Winder had 17, all in the first half, as the Cougars improved to 3-1 in WCC play, 13-4 overall. San Francisco fell to 1-3 and 7-9.

Kyle Collinsworth had his third triple-double of the season for BYU, even though he and Haws were taken out of the game with 5:58 remaining and the Cougars leading by 30 points.

Collinsworth had 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, the final assist credited several minutes after he left the game. But it was a legitimate assist - a pass to Fischer, who took a dribble and nailed a three-pointer to give the Cougars an 88-58 lead.

San Francisco was looking for a little revenge after losing not only three straight at home to BYU, but 79-77 in overtime to the Cougars in last March's WCC tournament semifinals.

But the Dons were barely competitive after the first few minutes, victims of some torrid BYU shooting and their own ineffectiveness on offense.

The Cougars especially shot the lights out in the first half, reminiscent of their performance against Chaminade at the Maui Invitational. Second in the nation in scoring, they have now scored 40 or more points in six-straight halves.

They were 11 of 15 from three-point range in the first half, and 9 of 12 on their two-point attempts, for a crisp 74.1 percent from the field.

Freshman Jake Toolson was 3 of 3 from deep in the first half, while Haws was 2 of 2, Fischer was 3 of 4 and Winder was 3 of 5.

Starting for the third-straight game in Rose's relatively new four-guard lineup, Winder had 17 first-half points, while Fischer had 11 and Haws 10.

San Francisco's first attempt was a three-pointer that connected, by Kruize Pinkins, but the Dons couldn't keep up with BYU's blistering offensive attack and experienced several cold stretches, finishing the first half at 38.5 percent.

Eight Cougars scored in the first half and their biggest lead was 30 points, 57-27, with 53 seconds left in the half.

Collinsworth posted four points, six rebounds and six assists in the first half.

The 28-point lead at halftime was BYU's biggest at the half this season.

San Francisco trailed just 15-10 with 15 minutes remaining, but Fischer hit a three-pointer, Winder made a three-point play and Toolson drained three three-pointers in four possessions and the Cougars were off to the races.

The Cougars finished shooting 60 percent (33 of 55), including 54 percent from three-point range (15 of 28). Ten Cougars ended up scoring in the blowout.
