In Orem, freshman Mariah Seals made a last-second layup to lift the Utah Valley Wolverines to the 59-57 victory over Omaha. Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led Utah Valley (6-8) with 18 points (9 for 15 shooting). Karlee Norris earned her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Seals finished with 13 points.
New Mexico State 81, Southern Utah 64 • In Cedar City, the Aggies went on a 20-2 run to close the first half en route to the victory.
Men's basketball • The Westminster men's basketball team opened the 39th Tom Byron Classic with an 81-80 overtime victory over Victoria (Canada) on Monday afternoon in California. Westminster trailed by two with 6.4 seconds remaining when Jordan Pryor buried a three to seal the win.
