"Speech!" His future teammates chanted after Utah coaches introduced Quinn Fabrizio and announced his commitment at midfield after practice.

Fabrizio wasn't prepared for that.

"Just go out and beat Colorado, that's all I ask," he told them.

Judging from the resulting cheer, his first on-the-fly adjustment went over pretty well.

Fabrizio, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior at Alta, said Utah coaches project him as a safety, but that if it doesn't work out there, he could bulk up and move to outside linebacker.

He hopes to graduate early and leave on an LDS mission in March, making him due to return in spring 2017. Rivals lists Fabrizio as a three-star prospect, and you can watch some of his highlights here.

Fabrizio elected to commit to Utah over offers from Wisconsin, Washington, Washington State, Colorado, Nevada, BYU, Utah State and others.

"The thing that stood out to me was the Pac-12, because I'd visited a lot of the Pac-12 schools and seen all that they had to offer, and knowing that Utah is in my home state and I can play against some of these big-time schools, that kind of is what put it over the top for me."

He plans to study business at the U.

Fabrizio's commitment is Utah's third in less than a week. Here's a list of the Utah football commits the Tribune has reported on. Click for details:
