Pocatello • Weber State will try to end the season on a three-game winning streak, when the Wildcats visit Idaho State.

It won't be easy.

Behind record-setting quarterback Justin Arias, the Bengals are one of the most improved teams in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Idaho State is 7-4 overall, including early-season losses to Utah and Utah State, and 5-2 in the Big Sky Conference. A win over Weber could earn the Bengals an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs.

"We're pretty damn proud" of what the Bengals have accomplished this season, Idaho State coach Mike Kramer said.

Weber State has motivation for this game, too.

The Wildcats have not pieced together a three-game winning streak since midway through the 2010 season. With a victory, first-year coach Jay Hill could rightfully claim his rebuilding program is on track.

"It's a huge game," he said. "... This game is an absolutely critical part of our future. It's big for us to have momentum going into recruiting and next season."

After opening with nine straight losses, Weber has defeated North Dakota (24-12) and Northern Colorado (34-21).

Kramer, a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award that goes to the FCS' national coach of the year, believes the Bengals must play well to beat the Wildcats for the first time since 2002.

"Weber has stayed the course and shown good mental toughness," Kramer said. "They are extremely well-coached and don't make a lot of mistakes. ... This is a very, very big challenge for us." —
