Provo • Through two college basketball exhibition games, it is becoming quite clear that Wake Forest transfer Chase Fischer will be BYU's third scoring option this season.

Fischer led all scorers with 21 points, including 13 in the second half, as the Cougars drubbed Seattle Pacific 75-44 on Saturday night at the Marriott Center.

Seattle Pacific, an NCAA Division II school, gave the Cougars a good fight in the first half, trailing just 40-30 at intermission, but BYU clamped down defensively in the second half and won going away.

The Falcons, who defeated Pacific Lutheran 77-59 in their exhibition opener last week, scored just 14 points after the break.

Fischer was 9 of 13 from the field in his second game as a Cougar, having sat out all of last year due to NCAA transfer rules.

Tyler Haws scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half and Anson Winder added 11.

After sitting out last week's win over Colorado School of Mines, junior point guard Kyle Collinsworth played the first seven minutes or so of each half in his first game back since tearing his ACL last March.

Collinsworth sparked the Cougars in the early minutes with a resounding two-handed slam dunk and also added a pair of assists.

The Cougars also got a lift in the first half from freshman Dalton Nixon, who drilled a three-pointer and made some key steals.

Projected starting forward Nate Austin did not play because of a sore back. Freshmen Nate Andrus (concussion) and Jordan Chatman (knee) were also held out of the game.

The Cougars open their season Friday at home against Long Beach State in a game that will begin at 5 p.m.

Weber State 78, Western State 63

In Ogden, junior center Joel Bolomboy tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats wrapped up their exhibition season.

Junior guard Chris Golden had 13 points and five assists without a turnover in 28 minutes. Sophomore guard Jeremy Senglin had 13 points and four assists with one turnover.

"I thought we got better in some areas," said Weber State coach Randy Rahe, whose squad finished its exhibition slate with a 2-0 mark. "I really liked our assists and turnovers. I thought our efforts were pretty good in those areas.

"I thought we flowed a little bit better and we didn't play quite as frantic, and overall we got a little better."

Weber State shot 60 percent in the first half (18-of-30), but Western State managed to hang in the game, trailing 40-32 at halftime, as the Wildcats had seven first-half turnovers that led to seven points for the visitors.

Weber State will officially open up its season on Friday evening at Utah State.

Westminster 86, Fort Lewis 74

Jordan Pryor scored 28 points as the Griffins closed out the Westminster Tipoff Classic with the exhibition victory.

The Griffins went on a 30-7 run in the first half to pull away, but Fort Lewis bounced back to keep the game close.

Westminster's Kenny Woodard score 13 of his 16 points in the first half while adding three assists. William Walker had 14 points on 7-for-7 shooting in 11 minutes off the bench. Nick Jenson had 10 points.

Fort Lewis was led by 28 points from Alex Herrera. He shot 10-of-15 from the floor.

The Griffins will make a trip to Las Vegas for a pair of games against teams from the Golden State Athletic Conference. They will face NAIA No. 1 Vanguard (Calif.) on Friday in their first-ever game against the nation's No. 1 ranked team.
