Copperton, Utah • A 14-year-old boy is being held in a juvenile detention facility after police say he and two boys stole a family car before getting into a rollover crash in southwest Salt Lake County.

Unified Police officer Ken Hansen says the 14-year-old and two other boys, age 11 and 12, were treated at a hospital after the Sunday crash in the Copperton area.

After being treated, the 14-year-old was taken to the detention center while the younger boys were released to their parents.

Details on their conditions weren't available.

Hansen told KUTV that the oldest boy took the car after his mother fell asleep.

The car rolled over around 4 a.m. when the youth drove too fast through a corner.

Police are investigating.
