Washington • The campaign committee for House Republicans is telling television stations from New Hampshire to California to set aside $30 million in advertising time ahead of November's elections.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has begun booking its advertising time with the bulk of it almost $19 million devoted to seats Democrats currently hold. In all, the GOP committee is buying time for 26 races.
The booking comes weeks after House Democrats booked $44 million in ad time for 36 races.
House Republicans are expected to hold their majority this fall despite Democrats' heavy spending.
By booking the time so early, both party committees lock in a lower price and a discount of as much as 35 percent. The ad reservations can be modified should individual races become less competitive.
