SONORA, Calif. • Officials were investigating a report Wednesday that 20 people were injured when a tree fell at a summer camp near Yosemite National Park.
State fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said he had received the report but had no further details.
Camp officials were assessing the situation, but Gregg Rubenstein, director of finance for Camp Tawonga, said he did not have additional details about the severity or number of injuries. However, he said no children were among the injured.
There are about 300 campers and 150 staff at the facility. The camp website indicates there are sessions for students in 2nd grade through 10th grade.
The camp is located in a remote area of Tuolumne County on 160 acres in the community of Groveland in the Stanislaus National Forest. Its offices are based in San Francisco.
