No group has claimed responsibility for Thursday’s attack. But police suspect it was carried out by Islamist militants.
Rehman says the police who were attacked were recruited from northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and brought to Lahore for training.
Pakistan’s northwest is the main sanctuary for Islamist militants in the country.
