Twin Falls wastewater plant running at near capacity

First Published Jun 17 2012 08:19 pm • Last Updated Jun 17 2012 10:02 pm

Twin Falls, Idaho • Officials in the south-central Idaho city of Twin Falls say potential growth is limited because the wastewater plant is nearly at capacity and it will be years before it might be expanded.

Twin Falls City Engineer Jackie Fields tells The Times-News that the plant has been at more than 90 percent capacity for a year or two.

She says when Chobani came to produce yogurt the city made improvements in existing infrastructure to keep the percentage from getting worse.

But she says there are no more improvements to make if another large company wants to set up shop in Twin Falls.

She says city officials will have to expand the facility if they want to attract another industrial user.
