Jury in John Edwards trial asks for 20 exhibits

Greensboro, N.C. • The jury in the John Edwards campaign-finance fraud trial is asking to see about 20 more evidence exhibits during its fifth day of deliberations.

The jury began its discussions Friday and has occasionally asked to see exhibits over the past few days. Jurors have taken a lunch break and will resume talks later Thursday.

The former presidential candidate is accused of orchestrating a plan to funnel money from two wealthy donors to hide his pregnant mistress as he sought the 2008 White House.

He is charged with six felony counts related to campaign-finance violations. If convicted on all counts, Edwards faces up to 30 years in prison, though legal experts predict a term of less than five years would be more likely.
