Orchard said he went into the Stanford game with a new mindset after putting too much pressure on himself earlier in the year.
"The other day I said I just have to play my game, I’ve gotta do me," he said. "That was my mentality going into the game, trying to do me and make plays. I know what I am capable of and I did that."
Orchard said he learned he received the award when his dad texted him.
"It’s a privilege to notice me and what we are doing as a team and as a defense," he said.

Utah kicker Andy Phillips was named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week after making field goals from 22 and 48 yards against the Cardinal, improving to 11-of-11 on the season.
Phillips’ success is one of the most surprising storylines in the Pac-12 this year, considering the former U.S. Ski Team member had no experience in football.
It prompted Whittingham to give away Utah’s secrets in recruiting kicking talent on Monday.
"We no longer go to the soccer fields to find kickers," he said. "We go to the slopes."
Fans who missed Utah’s upset of the Cardinal can see a replay of the game Tuesday at 7 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks. … The Pac-12 announced that Utah’s game at USC will kick off at 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 and will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks.
