Utah's women's basketball team has announced senior Taryn Wicijowski will receive a medical redshirt the 2013-14 season after sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

It is the second time the 6-foot-3 forward has suffered such an injury. Wicijowski redshirted in 2010-11 after tearing her ACL, then went on to become one of Utah's best players, earning all-Pac-12 honors two seasons in a row after ranking in the top 10 in the league in scoring (14.3) and rebounding (7.3).

Wicijowski was also third in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.523) last year.

Wicijowski was one of three starters returning for the Utes, who finished the 2012-13 season 23-14 overall and 8-10 in conference play.

Also returning are senior forward Michelle Plouffe, an AP honorable mention in 2012 and 2013 and sophomore point guard Daniel Rodriguez, who started 35 games as a freshman.

The Utes host Mary in an exhibition on Nov. 1 then open the regular season against Denver on Nov. 8.
