This one was over early. Now the rest of the season begins.
Utah wasted little time in showing vast superiority against Weber State Saturday, defeating the Wildcats 70-7 at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In doing so, the Utes led 49-0 at halftime, scored on their first second half possession and never surrendered their grip against what was an overmatched team.
The first team starters played in the first half, allowing Weber State to cross midfield just once. Offensively, sophomore quarterback Travis Wilson was the big star, accounting for five touchdowns in the first half three scoring passes and two on the ground. Junior receiver Dres Anderson caught four passes for 103 yards and a touchdown, while Sean Fitzgerald caught three for another 87 yards and two scores. Wilson went 14-19 for 264 yards through the air.
Being dominant enabled Utah to take an extended look at its reserves. Running back Lucky Radley went over 100 yards rushing in the second half. Adam Schulz led multiple scoring drives.
Utah moves to 2-0 on the season. Next week is the first Pac-12 matchup for the Utes, who will face Oregon State at Rice-Eccles.
