Day 2 went decidedly better.

After a rocky first workout of fall camp at Utah — coach Kyle Whittingham called out his team in no uncertain terms Monday — the team yielded a much better review in the minutes after practice ended Tuesday.

Whittingham said the execution was a lot more crisp. The focus that was missing Monday returned in droves. While the third-team offense still needs significant work, the first and second teamers were sharp. In short, this was the team Whittingham wanted to see.

"I thought we cleaned a lot of things up today," Whittingham said.

That praise brings optimism to the next few days of camp. Whittingham said that all four quarterbacks who saw reps — Micah Thomas was injured with a pulled hamstring — played well.

The running backs look deep, with Kelvin York being the top guy. The linebackers all have made improvement, and the secondary is talented, if inexperienced.
