The Utah women's volleyball team increased its defensive depth as two liberos signed letters of intent to play for the 2013 season. The Utes also added an outside hitter.

Liberos Caroline Sipiora and Tess Sutton along with outside hitter Jaydra Thurber have committed to join the Utah volleyball team.

"We are excited about all three players joining our program," Utah coach Beth Launiere said. "Caroline and Tess give us a great passing and defensive presence in the back row, while Jaydra adds to our depth on the pins."

Sipiora sat out most of 2012 season due to ACL injury, but came back to have 32 digs in a three-set match for Vista del Lago (Calif.) High. She turned in 433 digs to go 357 kills during junior season as an outside hitter.

Sutton, Fallbrook (Calif.) High, ranked third in MaxPreps digs statistics in San Diego. She was voted team's Most Valuable and Most Inspirational Player and was a two-time all-league selection.

Outside Jaydra Thurber, Chaparral (Calif.) High, won second-team all-league honors in 2012.
