Utah's gymnastics team knows it needs some athletes to step up and fill in for Corrie Lothrop, who suffered a season-ending Achilles' tendon injury Friday during Utah's win over Arizona State in front of 14,410 at the Huntsman Center.

One of those gymnasts could be Tory Wilson.

The sophomore won her fourth straight vault title Friday with her best score yet to help the Utes beat Arizona State.

Wilson scored a career-high 9.975 to clinch first place.

Wilson, who ranks second nationally averaging a 9.93, capped off a 49.325 vault performance by the Utes.

It appeared her win streak might be in jeopardy when fellow sophomore Georgia Dabritz earned a 9.9, but Wilson wasn't going to be denied.

She hit the horse at the perfect spot, sailed high and landed perfectly.

One judge gave her a 10.0 while the other docked her just enough to prevent her from earning a perfect score.

Wilson also had a 9.775 on the balance beam and a 9.9 on the floor.

"I told her she was really the champion out there tonight," Dabritz said.

A streak to break

While Wilson is celebrating her streak, Dabritz would like to end her own.

Dabritz fell off the balance beam for the second week in a row on Friday, scoring just 9.15. The fall ruined what otherwise would have been an outstanding night for her in the all-around, as she scored 9.9 on the vault and 9.95 on the uneven bars.

The mistake also seems to signify Dabritz hasn't been able to put behind the mental block she had on the balance beam last year.

Dabritz thought she'd overcome her issues in the offseason and scored 9.875 and 9.9 in the first two meets, but fell at Arizona a week ago.

"I wanted redemption for the last two but just let it slip," Dabritz said.
