Tempe, Ariz. • In a game Utah had every opportunity to win, Arizona State came out on top with an overtime 55-54 win at Wells Fargo Arena.
With four seconds remaining, Jason Washburn missed a turnaround jumpshot. Freshman Jordan Loveridge had a clear shot at the putback, but the ball slipped through his hands and fell to the floor as time expired and the Sun Devil players ran jubilantly off the floor.

Utah loses its Pac-12 opener as a result. In regulation, the Utes held a three-point lead in the final minute. But Jahii Carson, ASU’s freshman point guard, made a long 3-pointer to tie it. He made the game-winner in overtime, a running bank shot over Washburn’s outstretched arms.
