Utah football: Utes trailing 14-8 at halftime
Seattle • The Washington Huskies overcame a rash of penalties to lead the Utah Utes 14-8 at halftime here Saturday.
Washington quarterback Keith Price scored on a 4-yard run with 2:16 remaining in the half to put the Huskies ahead of the Utes, who have never beaten Washington in seven tries.
Washington's drive was set up by a Travis Wilson interception that was returned 13 yards to Washington's 33-yard line.
That drive was just one of several in which the Utes squandered good field position.
The Utes' average starting field position in the first half was their 35-yard line, while Washington's was the 24-yard line.
John White, who scored on a 46-yard run in the first quarter, found room to run and finished with 91 yards in the half, but he wasn't enough to carry Utah's offense.
Wilson was just 6-for-14 for 32 yards. White and senior Luke Matthews both had drops on catchable balls.
Price finished the half 13-for-19 for 152 yards and Washington running back Bishop Sankey rushed 16 times for 80 yards.
The Huskies were penalized six times for 62 yards.
