The Utah Utes love versatile players, and they added another one to their future plans Sunday as they received a verbal commitment from Carlos Henderson, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete out of McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans

Henderson plays receiver, running back and cornerback for his school and could be in the mix at any of those positions for the Utes.

Henderson, who rushed for three touchdowns and 99 yards on 12 carries in a win Friday, said a close relationship with Utah offensive coordinator Brian Johnson helped him make his decision.

"I like the things they are doing up there," he said.

He chose the Utes over Memphis, Tulane and Arizona State.

"I wanted to get away and focus on football and studies so I can be successful," he said. "I know it's far away from home but I can deal with it."

Henderson's commitment capped a busy weekend for the Utes, who also picked up a verbal commitment from 6-5, 236-pound tight end Greg Reese out of Arizona Western College.

Reese, who picked the Utes over Louisville, Temple, Indiana and Oregon State, said he plans to enroll for spring ball.

"It's a great school and coaching staff and I was comfortable with them," he said. "They have a great biology program, too, and the tight end competition should be wide open."
