Utah basketball's recruiting class was completed Thursday with the signing of perimeter player Dakari Tucker.

The swingman from Gardena Serra (Calif.) High School becomes the eighth player to sign with second-year coach Larry Krystkowiak, bringing to an end a recruiting cycle that saw six players transfer out of the program after a 6-25 campaign in Utah's inaugural Pac-12 season.

"We are very excited to welcome Dakari to our basketball program," Krystkowiak said in a written statement. "He shoots the ball very well and is an excellent runner. He reminds me of a young racehorse that needs some time developing physically. Knowing his work ethic and competitive nature, he has an extremely bright future here at Utah."

Tucker visited Utah two weekends ago, and the Utes offered him a scholarship earlier this week. It didn't take long for him to accept.

"I just like the community and then the people around it," Tucker said. "I really like the coaches, and I got a chance to meet a couple of the players."

Tucker was named the California Interscholastic Federation Division 4AA Player of the Year, and received first-team Southern Section honors. Tucker averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 45 percent from the field for the season (153 of 340) and made 80 percent of his free throws (52 of 65).

The Utes wrapped up their spring recruitment with a flurry. After signing Brazilian forward Renan Lenz on April 25, Krystkowiak inked Loyola Marymount transfer guard Jarred DuBois on Monday, before signing Tucker on Thursday.

Tucker said he also received scholarship offers from Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, Cal State-Northridge and Nevada.

Signing • Utes beat out Saint Mary's, others for California star.
