Tempe, Ariz. • Trent Lockett came back and helped Arizona State gain at least a measure of redemption for its ugliest loss of the season.

Lockett had 12 points after missing six games with a sprained right ankle and the Sun Devils held off Utah 57-52 on Thursday night.

Carrick Felix led the Sun Devils with 15 points, including a dunk with 47 second to play and a pair of free throws with 11.7 seconds left.

The Utes lost their fifth straight and 11th in 12 games. Their lone victory in that span was a 64-43 rout of Arizona State in Salt Lake City on Jan. 21.

That was the Sun Devils’ first game without Lockett. They went on to go 1-5 in his absence.

"It definitely gets rid of that sour taste," Felix said, "but we’ve still got things we have to work on."

Chris Hines was the only player in double figures for Utah (5-19, 2-10) with 10 points, but he made just 3 of 15 shots. Overall, the Utes shot 30 percent and had to heat up at the end to even reach that paltry figure.

Arizona State’s Jordan Bachynski had 11 points and 12 rebounds for his first career double-double.

Lockett, the Sun Devils’ scoring leader at 14 points per game, played 36 minutes after barely practicing.

"Medicine is a wonderful thing," he said. "Obviously, it’s going to be a process. I haven’t played in three weeks."

Coach Herb Sendek said "some other guys would still be out" in regard to the injury Lockett had sustained, emphasizing his toughness. "He poured everything into (his rehabilitation)," Sendek said.
