Utah running backs coach Dave Schramm is getting another shot at being an offensive coordinator, this time at Fresno State.

The Salt Lake Tribune has confirmed through a school source that Schramm is joining Tim DeRuyter's staff at Fresno State as a coordinator.

Schramm, who just completed his seventh year with the Utes, served as coordinator in 2009 and co-offensive coordinator along with Aaron Roderick in 2010.

He was demoted to running backs coach in 2011 to make room for Norm Chow.

Perhaps more than coaching, Schramm's departure hurts the Utes the most in recruiting.

Schramm served as recruiting coordinator from 2005-2008 and is known as a very good recruiter for the Utes in California.

Jake Johnson, a linebacker out of Carlsbad, Calif., Lio Lafaele, an offensive lineman out of Corona, Calif., and Marc Pouvave, a lineman out of Southwestern Community College are just a few of the players who have committed to the Utes for 2012 who were recruited by Schramm.

That Schramm would leave the Utes for a higher profile job isn't a surprise. Schramm, who has coached at San Diego State, Southwest Texas State and Montana before joining the Utes in 2005, has made it known he wants to continue moving up through the coaching ranks.

In 2009 he interviewed for the head coaching position at Montana, a position that eventually went to Robin Pflugrad.
