A California prep tennis star has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Utah's women's team.

Head coach Matt Iandolo confirmedh that Natasha Smith, a highly sought recruit out of Wilson High School in Long Beach, Calif., would be joining his squad.

"I'm very excited and feel very lucky to have such a high-caliber player like Natasha join our program," Iandolo said Friday. "She will make an immediate impact in our program. I am looking forward to coaching her."

At Wilson, Smith was a two-time MVP after going undefeated in the No. 1 singles position. Smith ended her prep career ranked 67th in the nation and 15th in California. She also played first and third base for the Wilson High School softball team and was a member of the cheerleading team.
