The University of Utah men's basketball team has completed its coaching staff with the hire of Randy Baruth, the former Director of Basketball Operations at Colorado State. Baruth's specific title at Utah is yet to be determined, but his primary responsibilities will include directing camps and coaches' clinics, team video coordination and travel.

"Randy has a tremendous amount of basketball knowledge gained from working with coaches like Don Meyer and Tim Miles," said Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak. "Randy has a wealth of experience in all facets of basketball. He is a very organized, task-oriented guy and will be a valuable asset to our program."

Baruth spent two years at Colorado State after a five-year stint as an assistant coach at Northern State University under Meyer, the all-time winningest coach in college basketball history. In 2007-08, NSU posted a 29-4 record and was ranked among the Div. II Top 25 for nearly the entire season. Prior to his time with the Wolves, Baruth was a graduate assistant at North Dakota State from 2002-04.

"I am very excited and humbled to become part of Coach Krystkowiak's staff," said Baruth. "My wife and I are proud to join the Utah men's basketball family and are thankful for this opportunity. I would also like to thank Coach Miles and his staff for the great opportunity they gave us to be part of the Colorado State Rams for the last two years."

Baruth earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Dakota Weslyan University in 2000. He then went on to receive a master's degree in education leadership in 2004, also from DWU.

Baruth and his wife, Meghan, will relocate to Salt Lake City, where he has already begun work with the Runnin' Utes.

The hiring of Baruth signifies the completion of the new Utah men's basketball staff, which includes Krystkowiak, assistant coaches Tommy Connor, DeMarlo Slocum and Andy Hill, and Director of Operations Norm Parrish.
