Corvallis, Ore. • Saturday's trip to Oregon State wasn't a total loss for Utah's sixth-ranked gymnastics team.
Utah senior Gael Mackie gave the Utes something to smile about, as she won the all-around and the uneven bars with scores of 39.15 and 9.9.
It was her fourth 9.9 or higher on the bars in the last five meets and was good enough to earn her a third title for the year on the event.
"It was a surprise," said Mackie. "Bars are just fun for me this year."
Mackie had a 9.75 on the vault, a 9.725 on the beam and a 9.775 on the floor.
"I am extremely happy for her," Utah coach Greg Marsden said. "She has struggled a lot with anxiety and has come a long ways in the last month or so. It is very rewarding to reach this point."
Mackie now has six wins on the season,tying her with Corrie Lothrop for the second most on the team.Junior Stephanie McAllister leads the Utes with 12 titles.
Packed house
The Utes found out Saturday that their 13,503 home meet attendance average was the highest in the nation for all women's sports for the second year in a row.
Tennessee's women's basketball averaged 13,078 and Alabama's gymnastics team averaged 12,730.
Record against Pac-10
Saturday's loss drops the Utes to 3-2 against the Pac-10 for the year. Utah beat No. 8 UCLA, Arizona State and No. 15 Washington and lost to No. 3 Stanford and No. 5 Oregon State.
