Dubai • The defendng 5A boys basketball champion Lone Peak Knights fell just short in their bid to get to the title game of the Dubai Tournament here Friday.
Lone Peak’s Frank Jackson continued his torrid tournament play, pouring in 40 points, but the Knights fell 72-68 to Huntington Prep of West Virgina in the semifinals.
Lone Peak started fast and led 33-22 at the half, but wilted under a 50-point Huntington onslaught in the second half that was led by Ronshad Shabazz.
Shabazz scored 34 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Huntington Prep, whil Thomas Bryant and 19 points and 10 boards.
Nick Curtis added 10 points and five rebounds for the Knights. Jackson and Curtis were the only two Lone Peak players in double figures.
The Knights will play Simeon in the tournament’s third-place game on Saturday before returning to Utah.
