Prep golf: Provo wins 4A girls’ title, Rich tops in 1A boys

Provo’s Naomi Soifua earned medalist honors in the Class 4A girls’ golf tournament Wednesday and led the Bulldogs to an 11-stroke victory over Box Elder and the state championship. Bonneville finished a distant third.

Soifua defeated Bonneville’s Tallie Alden and Ogden’s Xera Motes, who tied for second in the meet played the East Bay golf course in Provo.

Abbey Harward, Ciaran Burton and Hannah Miller contributed to Provo’s team victory.

In the Class 1A boys’ championship at Southgate in St. George, Rich beat Green River by five shots to claim the team title. Monticello was third. Milford’s Garreth Mayer won individual honors by beating Rich’s McKay Jarman by three shots. Monticello’s Tanner Eardley took third.

The initial Tribune report on these tournaments was in error due to incomplete results.
