Draper • Corner Canyon has become quite comfortable digging itself a hole then climbing out this season.

The Chargers did so in dramatic fashion to rally for a come-from-behind 20-13 overtime victory against Skyline on Friday.

The win clinched a Region 7 playoff berth for the Chargers (4-3, 4-0), who started the season with three consecutive losses before finally putting it all together.

"We had heart the whole time and we had confidence," said Chargers quarterback Michael Ebeling, who scored the go-ahead touchdown on the first possession of overtime. "We started off slow the first three games, but we picked it up and, watch out. That's all I'm going to say. Watch out."

The defense was there from the start Friday. Corner Canyon limited Skyline to 98 yards of total offense and intercepted two Braxton Chipman passes, including one on the game's final play to seal the victory.

Ebeling rallied Corner Canyon from a 13-7 deficit in the fourth quarter with his legs and arm. He scrambled 17 yards on fourth-and-4 to extend the drive, then found Parker Ellis in the end zone for a 21-yard TD that tied the game with 6 minutes, 59 seconds to play.

The junior again came through in OT when he ran 6 yards on fourth-and-5 then scored from 14 yards out on the next play.

Skyline (4-3, 2-2) scored its lone touchdown when Jake Wittwer recovered a punt blocked by teammate Riley Sharp inside the Chargers' 5-yard line. Skyline's Aleck Russon had 83 yards rushing, but Eagles rushers were tackled for loss 11 times in 35 carries.

"Our defense is amazing, they really rally us on offense," said Ebeling, who also had a 13-yard TD run on the game's first drive. "They get a lot of turnovers and hit hard. That gets our confidence up on offense."

Corner Canyon secured a playoff berth in the school's inaugural year.
