Utah teams come up short in baseball tournament

Utah teams went winless in three games during the opening round of Monday's Hard Nine National Classic baseball tournament in Fullerton, Calif.

Spanish Fork was beaten 3-2 by a walk run in the bottom of the seventh by Esperanza (Calif.) High, while Gahr (Calif.) defeated Cottonwood 12-0 and El Dorado (Calif.) defeated Taylorsville, 3-0.

The 16-team tournament continues Tuesday through Thursday with games at CS Fullerton's Goodwin Field.
