2. Orem • The Tigers beat a top-25 team in Christ Presbyterian out of Tennessee at the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina
3. Roy • The Royals have won three straight and junior forward Brekkott Chapman still can jump out of the gym
4. Timpview • At 7-0, the T-birds are steam rolling opponents early on. Region play starts soon, too
5. Sky View • Two losses have come against Weber and East. Look out for USU commit Jalen Moore

1. Judge Memorial • A New Year's Eve showdown with Davis will be huge test for the Bulldogs

3. Juan Diego • The Soaring Eagle have played a tough preseason schedule and just beat 5A Layton 59-51
4. Morgan • The Trojans are quietly 8-2 and proving to be a 3A contender early on
5. Desert Hills • The Thunder have rolled to an 8-3 start and start region play against Hurricane on Friday
Class 2A
1. Wasatch Academy • The Tigers, at 10-1, could dominate 2A basketball by the way they've played in the preseason
2. South Sevier • Race Parsons dropped 38 in a 68-64 win over 3A Canyon View Thursday in Cedar City
3. Richfield • Brandon Willardson is turning into a big-time player for the Wildcats
4. Merit Academy • Winners of seven straight, the Knights face Rockwell on Friday
5. Beaver • The Beavers are 8-0 and gaining steam heading into region play
Class 1A
1. Tabiona • At 8-2, could be the class of 1A boys' hoops this year
2. Tintic • Miners are itching to see Tabiona again later on in the playoffs
3. Pinnacle Canyon • Has scored at least 90 points in the last two runaway victories
4. Monticello • Beating San Juan is a big deal for the Buckaroos. Bragging rights until 2013
