Good things happen when Junior Tailey touches the ball.

The 6-foot-3 senior totaled just nine points in the Titans' 73-59 victory over Woods Cross on Tuesday, but his performance without the ball made the biggest impact. He blocked two shots and pulled in eight rebounds in a physical match that handed the Wildcats their third loss of the season.

"They played real tough, they're always a real tough team," Tailey said. "We've worked hard through practice to be ready for a game like this."

Tailey was fierce in the low post, creating scoring opportunities for his teammates and drawing defenders that opened up shooting lanes. After his team led by as much as 19, Tailey credited his teammates for scoring when it counted.

"Guys worked hard to get in position and make shots," Tailey said.

Sophomore Jake Lindsey led the Titans with 17 points and senior Coulson Hardy finished the game with four 3-pointers. Olympus came out hard in all four quarters but it was Hardy's back-to-back 3s in the third quarter that made the difference, said coach Matt Barnes.

"You can never let Woods Cross get back into the game," Barnes said. "I think we did a good job of rattling them by keeping the pressure on the entire time."

After falling in last year's Class 4A championship game, the Titans are treating every game as an opportunity to get ready for the playoffs. Barnes believes that his team's toughness will make it the team to beat this year.

"These guys know this is a learning process and I'm happy with the work they're doing to get ready," Barnes said. "They're tough and improving every game."
