Skyline played crisp, hard-hitting volleyball in a 3-0 sweep of Olympus on Thursday.

The Eagles left nothing to chance after Tuesday's Region 7 loss to Westlake.

Skyline senior outside hitter Aly Stephenson led the way with 11 kills and said Tuesday's loss was a big motivator in how well her team played in Thursday's 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 win.

"I think that loss woke us up," she said.

Stephenson was part of a Skyline front line that dominated play in the middle with steady blocking that seemed to disrupt the Titans' offensive attack.

"We got our hands on quite a few balls, and our setters did a good job of mixing up our offense," Stephenson said.

The Eagles got contributions from just about everybody on a roster that coach Jami Hutchins said goes nine or 10 deep.

Skyline junior Kassie Sorenson had a kill followed by five consecutive service winners to close out the first set. Madison O'Conner's play in the middle combined with Kassidy Siddoway's outside hitting highlighted the second set, while Stephenson contributed four kills in the final set.

"Kassie got us going with how she finished Game 1," Hutchins said. "For us, it all starts with a good pass, and I thought our setters did a good job of putting the ball in the right place."

While Olympus, which dropped to 0-5 in Region 7 play, never threatened, it did receive solid hitting from senior Tessa Gardner and sophomore Sadie Sloan Hutchins. —
