Brighton High School senior Taylor Fankhauser was named the Utah Gatorade Boys’ Soccer Player of the Year Tuesday.
The 5-foot-7 Fankhauser has been a four-year contributor the Brighton program, and this year scored nine goals through the regular season, leading the Bengals to a 13-1-0 record entering the Class 5A tournament Tuesday. The Bengals host Layton at 4 p.m.

Fankhauser was a second team all-state selection last year by The Salt Lake Tribune. The owner of a 4.0 GPA, Fankhauser will attend Brigham Young University where he will play soccer.
