The Layton Christian Eagles survived a scare from the underdog Tigers, never letting Tabiona’s upset bid get enough traction.

After trailing by double digits, Tabiona closed the gap to just three points a number of times in the fourth quarter. However, the Tigers just couldn’t get over the hump, and Layton Christian made them pay in the final minutes from the foul line.

In other 1A games:

Wayne 70, Liahona 57 » The Liahona Warriors gave the Wayne Badgers all they could handle, making a game of it midway through the second half before the Badgers put the game away.

Bryce Valley 47, Monticello 41 » After three quarters of close, back-and-forth basketball, the Bryce Valley Mustangs capitalized on a stretch of shaky fourth-quarter play by the Monticello Buckaroos. Austin Maloy led the Buckaroos with 18 in a losing effort. He was followed by Jake Duncan’s 16.
