Monument Valley, led by Destinee Holiday’s 20 points, found itself in foul trouble early, and Panguitch capitalized enough to keep a comfortable lead down the stretch, going 18-for-32 from the line.

Panguitch trounced Wendover 50-18 Tuesday in the tournament play-in game, setting up the matchup with Monument Valley. The Bobcats will take on Piute on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Piute 50, Duchesne 30 • The Piute Thunderbirds used scoring surges in the second and fourth quarters to bury the Duchesne Eagles and advance to a quarterfinal matchup with Panguitch.

The T-birds were led by Shaylee Gleave, who scored 20, including a pair of 3-pointers. Duchesne’s Paige Ginn had a team-high 15 points as the Eagles shot a paltry 8-for-25 at the free throw line.

Piute will take on Panguitch in the quarterfinals Thursday at 4 p.m.

St. Joseph Catholic 29, Milford 23 • The St. Joseph Jayhawks got the last laugh against the Milford Tigers in what was a defensive struggle from start to finish.

Ahead by just two points, the Jayhawks got the final two buckets of the game, squeaking into Thursday’s quarterfinal round.

Katie Berry led St. Joseph with 16 points, while fellow Jayhawk — and fellow Katie — Katie Panushka joined her in double figures with 10.

Manila will take on St. Joseph Catholic in the quarterfinals Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Wayne 70, Whitehorse 42 • After a close first quarter, the Wayne Badgers put the pedal to the metal and never looked back, leaving the Whitehorse Raiders in the dust and advancing to the quarterfinals.

Though eight players contributed for the Badgers, most of their offense came through Sarah Taylor, who dropped 27 points on Whitehorse.

Wayne will play Layton Christian in the quarterfinals Thursday at 7 p.m.
