West gets closer to playoff spot
The Panthers secured their third Region 2 win by beating Taylorsville 51-32 Feb. 3. Alex Espinoza led the way with 14 points and Denzel Latu added 10. It was all but over after West jumped to a 21-8 lead after one quarter. The win put them two games ahead of both Granger and Taylorsville. With four teams going to the playoffs from Region 2, West has nearly locked up its spot.

Highland gets back on track
After two straight losses to East and Bountiful put the Rams behind in the Region 6 race, Highland got back on track with an easy win over Cyprus. Highland beat the Pirates 89-37 Feb. 3. The Rams won the second and third quarters 47-9 to pull away. David Divver led all scorers with 17 points, Lennon Betonney had 13 points and five rebounds and Riley Tucker added 11 points.
East slips up against Woods Cross
The Leopards fell into a 35-20 halftime hole against Woods Cross on Feb. 3 and ended up losing 67-52. With the loss, they slid back a step in the Region 6 race but still have the inside track to second place. Parker Van Dyke scored 21 points in the loss, and Rique Regaldo and Vaha Vainuku each scored seven.
Judge winning streak grows
The Bulldogs have been dominant in Region 10 play, stretching their winning streak to eight games, leaving them perfect in the region. Judge beat Juan Diego 55-45 on Feb. 1 thanks to 16 points, four rebounds and three steals from Alex Mancini. Joe Cremer and Jacob Gondrezick combined for 27 points. In a 67-54 win over Union Feb. 3, Cremer hit four 3-pointers on his way to 18 points. Mancini poured in 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
