University of Utah tennis player Tereza Bekerova will face Utah State's McKenzie Davis in the finals of the ITA Mountain Region Championship on Sunday in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In a semifinal on Saturday, the top-seeded Bekerova defeated New Mexico State's Ashvarya Shrivastava 7-5, 6-1.

In the other semifinal, Davis beat BYU's Maycie Jones, the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Davis took the first set, 6-2, and led 1-0 in the second set before Jones retired with an injury.

Cross country

Paced by freshman Sarah Feeny, the University of Utah women's cross country team placed 13th Saturday at the Indiana State Pre National Invitational in Terre Haute.

Feeny ran the 6K course in 21 minutes, 46.3 seconds to place 68th overall.

Baylor's Rachel Johnson won in 20:21.1.

• Utah Valley's Tyson Lambert finished 15th overall at the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, California, leading the Wolverines to a fourth-place finish.

Lambert covered the 8K course in 24:03.2. Ivie Gonzalves finished 22nd on the women's 6K course in 21:05.3 to lead UVU to a seventh-place finish.

Utah State's Tori Parkinson (20:50) finished 13th to help the Aggie women place sixth out of 21 teams. Colby Wilson (24:22) placed 41st to lead the Aggie men to an eighth-place finish out of 23 teams.

Volleyball

CSU Bakersfield 3, Utah Valley 2 • In Orem, the Wolverines dropped the first two games and had their rally come up short as they lost 30-28, 25-20, 23-25, 17-25, 15-13.

Macky Treanor led Utah State with 17 kills and 10 digs, while Kalani Norris posted 14 kills, Cassie Wahlin added 12 and Lauren Bakker chipped in 11.
