Bozeman, Mont. • Still searching for its first win of the season, Weber State couldn't have picked a worse opponent Saturday than Montana State.

The Bobcats are ranked ninth in the country among Football Championship Subdivision teams. They are 5-2 overall, 3-0 in the Big Sky Conference and have won 14 of their last 16 games against the Wildcats.

Led by sophomore quarterback Dakota Prukop, Montana State ranks second nationally in scoring (46.4 ppg) and seventh in total offense (517.7).

"Their offense is tearing it up right now," said Weber State coach Jay Hill.

In last week's 77-37 win at UC Davis, Prukop threw for 361 yards and four TDs. He set a school record with 509 yards of offense.

"We're hitting on all cylinders," Montana State coach Rob Ash said. "We made some big plays against UC Davis. ... But we know we can't take any points from one week to the next. So we're back to square one."

Ash insists winless Weber State has the Bobcats' attention.

"They've battled hard and been very close in many of their games." he said. "I'm very impressed, watching them on tape. They're strong, well-coached and have some good football players. ... We're expecting a great game."

The Wildcats are 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Big Sky but come off narrow losses to Southern Utah (31-28) and Cal Poly (30-24).

"We're so close right now," Hill said. —
