Renton, Wash. • Seattle wide receiver Doug Baldwin said Wednesday that his heated postgame comments following the Seahawks' loss to Dallas were understood by his teammates and he "felt like it needed to be said."

"They know I'm going to speak my mind," Baldwin said before Seattle's practice. "And for the most part they know I'm going to be wise with my words.

"But at the end of the day, I think that if you know me, you know that I do things on purpose. So I felt like it needed to be said."

Baldwin said he had no regrets regarding his expletive-laden comments or for being seen on the sideline during the second half having words with quarterback Russell Wilson. Baldwin remained blunt in his assessment of how Seattle has played offensively.

Baldwin said the Seahawks offense "played like crap" in a win over Washington and was bailed out by Wilson's performance when he had 201 yards passing and 122 yards rushing. Baldwin said he was most frustrated there was no improvement from the win over Washington to the loss against Dallas.

Seattle's offense finished with nine first downs and just 206 total yards last Sunday. Marshawn Lynch had only 10 carries and Wilson threw for just 66 yards after the first quarter.

"It kind of frustrated me that we didn't improve. I'm a big proponent of growth week in and week out," Baldwin said. "Even if you do fail, sometimes it is part of growth. But the way that we played last week in the Dallas game was very disappointing because I felt like we didn't grow."

Baldwin has 16 receptions through five games and is Seattle's second-leading receiver. He said he remains a proponent of being a run-first team and having Seattle's offense rely on Lynch and that there is anxiousness going into Sunday's game against St. Louis after the lackluster performance against the Cowboys.

"The guys on this team, we've always had chips on our shoulders, for whatever reason. So it just kind of refocuses us and lets us know that we are not as good as we think we are and we are not as good as everyone thinks on the outside that we are," Baldwin said. "So we've got to go back to work and remember that chip on our shoulder and get back to the grind."

Around the league

49ers • Quarterback Colin Kaepernick's $11,025 fine from the NFL for what a game official called "inappropriate language" during the 49ers' loss to the Chicago Bears last month was cut in half Wednesday.

Cowboys • Running back Joseph Randle says he made a "huge mistake" when he was arrested on a shoplifting charge that led to a fine from the Cowboys, but no suspension. Randle was charged with a Class B misdemeanor of theft between $50 and $500 after he was accused of taking $123 worth of cologne and underwear from a department store at a suburban Dallas mall on Monday. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Randle would be fined "significantly" but would play Sunday against the New York Giants.

Randle met with Garrett on Tuesday and addressed his teammates before practice Wednesday. He said he appreciated their support.

Raiders • Cornerback DJ Hayden practiced for the first time since breaking his foot in June, a potential boost for the Raiders' struggling defense. The 12th overall pick in 2013, Hayden has been on the physically-unable-to-perform list all season. The oft-injured cornerback was limited to eight games as a rookie and was on target to return this season before needing surgery for a stress fracture in his right foot. —
