Timbers 3, Earthquakes 3 • In Santa Clara, Calif., Kalif Alhassan scored in the 86th minute to give Portland a tie with the San Jose. Alhassan ran onto a loose ball in the penalty area and slotted a shot past goalkeeper Jon Busch. Alhassan tied it a minute after Chris Wondolowski scored his second of the game and 12th of the season for San Jose.

Crew 3, Chivas USA 0 • In Columbus, Ohio, Justin Meram scored the first two goals and Bernardo Anor added a third to lead Columbus past Chivas USA.

Revolution 2, Fire 1 • In Foxborough, Mass., Charlie Davies scored the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute in New England's victory over Chicago. Jermaine Jones maneuvered through a seam up the middle of the Chicago defense and passed forward to Davies to create the opportunity for New England.

Wondolowski rose above Portland's defense to head in a looping cross.

Portland (8-8-11) moved into sole possession of the fifth and final playoff position in the Western Conference, one point ahead of Vancouver. San Jose (6-10-0) is eight points behind the Timbers.

San Jose took a 2-0 lead on goals by Wondolowski in the 21st minute and Cordell Cato in the 48th. Alvas Powell countered for Portland in the 54th, and Liam Ridgewell tied it in the 74th.

Meram opened the scoring for the Crew (9-9-9) in the 52nd minute, curling a strike around goalkeeper Dan Kennedy into the bottom-right corner. He scored again 7 minutes later after he intercepted a careless cross in the middle of the Chivas USA (6-15-6) backfield. From there, Meram took it himself and scored from just outside the box.

Anor scored in the 80th minute on a header off Hector Jimenez's cross. The victory moved the Crew into a three-way tie for third place in the Eastern Conference.
