Logan • Utah State receiver JoJo Natson's 52-yard punt return against the Idaho State Bengals leaves him just one punt return away from tying the school record.

Natson needs just one more to tie Kevin Robinson (2004-07) for the school record of four punt returns.

But more than anything, Natson said he was just happy he could give his team a spark.

"I just look for ways to make plays and we needed one," he said.

Natson's return put the Aggies ahead 20-6 with 1:12 remaining and came minutes after Rashad Hall scored on a 5-yard run.

"Those were the big plays of the game," Utah State coach Matt Wells said. "That is when everything turned."

Natson, a junior, returned punts of 65 and 64 yards for touchdowns last year. He finished the season ranked 22nd nationally last year averaging 11.3 yards per punt return. He was named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week when he returned five punts for 102 yards against New Mexico.

Injury report: Depth at the receiver position is becoming an issue with Brandon Swindall leaving the game in the first quarter while backup Shaan Johnson didn't play with a leg injury.

Wells said he would have updates on both players on Monday. As for Swindall, Wells said the junior would have an MRI but that it "didn't look good."

"We have other guys and they need to step up," he said.

Going long: Jake Thompson continued to struggle with his field goal kicking on Saturday. Thompson, who missed a 48-yarder at Tennessee, had a 54-yard attempt blocked in the first quarter against the Bengals.

Thompson went 1-of-3 last year in field goal attempts, making a 52-harder against Hawaii and missing from 50 and 52 yards.

This and that: David Moala, a defensive lineman who recently joined the team, did not dress for Saturday's game but should be available for the Aggies' game against Wake Forest…Utah State has at least one interception in seven of its last eight games…linebacker LT Filiaga and receiver Hunter Sharp made their first starts.
