North Sevier Wolves

For North Sevier High, last year hurt.

In more ways than one.

The Wolves went winless, 0-9 on the year. And as losses mounted, any chance to turn things around seemed to disappear as a handful of key starters went down with injuries.

This fall, coach Chuck Woodhouse says his team is healthy and ready to do something it couldn’t last year: win.

Quarterback Fisher Andersen missed the last four games of the season with shoulder and knee problems, but is back under center for the Wolves.

Isiah Sivels, who tore his ACL in the first game of 2013, will be in the slot.

And wide receiver Collin Rasmussen, who hauled in three touchdowns before needing hand surgery, will be back in action, too.

Woodhouse also believes last year’s struggles will pay dividends this season, as he has more than a dozen returning lettermen on both sides of the ball.

"The last four games of the year, we were starting probably five, six freshmen on each side of the ball. It was tough, and it showed," he said. "We were in games up until that. We had a chance to win every game. Injuries hit us and it was ugly. But we’re back and we’re healthy and we’re deep because we got a lot of experience last year."

Last year » 0-9

Key returners » In addition to Andersen, Sivels and Rasmussen, Woodhouse expects a big year from fullback and middle linebacker Marshall Roundy.

Player to watch » Andersen is a two-year starter at quarterback.

Biggest hole » Brendon Sorensen was the team’s leading rusher in both of the last two seasons. Now the Wolves will look to replace him with Roundy and running back Makay Peterson.

Need to know » Wolves return 13 lettermen on each side of the ball.
